Progress is progress, even when slow & steady

The holidays are upon us. Thanksgiving will roll right into Christmas and before you know it, 2020 will be here. Are you ready? I'm working on it and I've been planning for it. I will be ready, but it sure is coming fast! NaNoWriMo is almost over, and the last day, the 30th is also my Granddaughters Aurora & Brooklyn's first birthday. Even though I've gotten quite a bit written, I am no where near the target total of 50,000 words.

While any words written are better than no words written, I am clear on one thing... I really need to develop some writing discipline! In anticipation of getting The Conductor manuscript back from my editor, I have been dragging my feet about writing anything else. It's not that I don't want to write, it's more that everything else I need to do has a way of running interference. For example; today I was home all day because the weather disrupted the original plans for the day. So, what did I do instead of writing? I took a long bath this morning to soak. Then I made the greens for our Thanksgiving dinner, and planned the process for the cakes I'm making tomorrow. Then I made the applesauce that I'll use to sweeten the girls birthday cakes. And now, finally, as the day is drawing to a close, literally, I am just now writing!

So, was the day wasted? No. I got a lot done, just not any of the writing I was planning on getting done. Now I have just four days left. Half way would be good. I wonder if I'll get there. Well, lets just say it won't be for lack of trying, because I will. The whole point to National Novel Writing Month is to just WRITE! Your only competition is yourself. There are online - Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and in-person writing groups to help get you going. So it's not like there's no support. I have a friend who has hit and exceeded 100,000 words, and she did the first 50k in the first seven days. Yikes! I'm so impressed!

Oh well, I've still got four days left! Let's see whether I can turn the almost 4000 words I've gotten written turned into 25k! #NotGivingUp #StillWriting #NaNoWriMo2019 #AmWriting
